Units Handle Single Vehicle Accident with Entrapment on Baldwin Mill Road (Rescue Box 47-13)

April 3rd, 2013

Around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, Station 47 and surrounding companies were dispatched for a report of a car accident with people trapped in the area of Baldwin Mill Road and Sweet Air Road. Jacksonville’s Engine 473 and IV 475 were the first to arrive and find a sedan that had run over the guardrail, off of the road, and struck a tree on the hill near the Harford County line. The single occupant was quickly assessed as a Priority 2 patient trapped inside the unstable car. Crews from Jacksonville and Kingsville worked together to stabilize the vehicle using chains and cribbing. A window was then removed and the patient was lowered down the hill and immobilized. She was transported to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries. The remainder of units initially dispatched were placed in service prior to their arrival.

Jacksonville Units: E473, IV475, U477
